Civil Partnership Blessings

Can we hold our Civil Partnership in our home or a garden? Yes you can! This type of ceremony is called a Blessing or Partnership Celebration.

Many people have asked me during my time at the register office if their ceremony can be performed in a garden. The answer has always been no. Your civil partnership must be signed in front of a registrar in a building licensed for marriage and civil partnerships.

But!!! The Civil Partnership schedule (document) only has to be signed and witnessed in front of the registrar. You do not need to say anything or exchange rings. So my answer now is Yes!

You can fulfil all the legal requirements by signing your schedule in a register office in front of two witnesses at a time to suit you and then I can personally write and conduct your ceremony anywhere you desire afterwards. The same day or at a later date, the choice is yours.

You will need to attend by appointment. at a register office in the county you live in, to formally give notice of your intent to form a civil partnership. This must be done at least 16 days before you sign the schedule. You will need to take your documents with you to this appointment (they will tell you what you need when you phone to book) and will cost you £30 each. On the day of signing a further fee of £40 is payable plus £3.50 for each certificate you require. My advice would be to get 2 as they double in price the next day!!

Then you would have my fee £300 plus possible travelling costs if I have to travel a long distance.

So add all those fees together and it still works out cheaper than paying for a registrar to attend a licensed premises and perform your Civil Partnership. Please contact me with any questions or availability requests that you may have.

Why choose Mulberry Days? That's easy. I will personally design and conduct your ceremony, to your specifications.

How did I get the name? My parents used to have a saying, if we had had a good family day, we would say that it had been a Mulberry Day. So whatever ceremony you choose I hope your day will be a Mulberry Day.
